Originally created for BET’s streaming service BET Plus, this spinoff of Tyler Perry’s political drama “The Oval” sounds so over the top, it might make “Dynasty” look straitlaced. Melissa L. Williams heads the large cast as Ruth Truesdale, a fanatical woman who kidnaps her own young daughter, Callie (LondonRose Sellars), to join her in an insane, sex-crazed cult known as the Rakudishis. Matt Cedeno, Lenny Thomas, Yvonne Senat Jones and David Alan Madrick co-star in the new “guilty pleasure” on which Perry is writer, director and executive producer.
While Jason (David Boreanaz) is escorting Mandy (Jessica Paré) to pay their last respects to the family of a fallen informant, Ray (Neil Brown Jr.) leads Bravo Team on a critical mission after they receive time-sensitive information on the whereabouts of a terrorist leader in the new episode “No Choice in Duty.” During their search, Davis (Toni Trucks) reveals that the terrorist in question is related to a target from Jason’s past. Meanwhile, Sonny (AJ Buckley) joins the team in Afghanistan. Adelaide Kane guest stars.
In “Colin’s Promotion,” a new episode directed by executive producer Jemaine Clement (“Flight of the Conchords”), Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) receives a promotion at his job. The consequent authority he wields at work starts to upset the balance of power within the vampire household. Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou and Harvey Guillen also star.
Season 1 concludes with “Flavor Explosion,” which finds Josh and Old Smokey sampling one of the most notorious military rations ever made. Later, they taste an out-of-this-world powdered candy that was very popular in the 1970s, and drop by a beer club where they evaluate a vintage brew that changes colors.
