The three-month break is officially over and what is one of the longest seasons in all of sports begins with its biggest event of the year: NASCAR’s Daytona 500. It’s the 62nd running of the “Great American Race.” Denny Hamlin, who is still looking for his first Cup championship, has two Daytona 500 victories, including winning last year’s and in 2016. Restrictor plate racing remains in place on the 2.5-mile tri-oval at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan all will be back as this long-running music competition series returns for its 18th season with a new crop of hopefuls that includes one contestant from a past season. That lucky returnee was selected in recent online viewer voting based on auditions taped at the iconic Whisky a Go Go nightclub in West Hollywood, Calif. Ryan Seacrest also is back as host.
