Anderson Cooper and Kelly Ripa host this two-hour special celebrating individuals who make extraordinary contributions to improve the lives of others. Among the 10 heroes honored for 2019 are Staci Alonso of Las Vegas, whose Noah’s Animal House allows victims of domestic abuse to keep their pets close while in a shelter; Woody Faircloth of Denver, whose group delivers refurbished RVs to victims of California wildfires; and Afroz Shah of India, whose crusade to clean one beach led to a global mission to clear trash from beaches and waterways.

For DC Comics fans, few TV events this season have been as eagerly anticipated as the epic crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” an adaptation of a famous DC print series, with a story that opens tonight on “Supergirl,” then continues nightly through Tuesday, Dec.10, on “Batwoman” (Monday) and “The Flash” (Tuesday). The saga will climax in Jan. 14 episodes of “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.” In tonight’s opening chapter, series star Melissa Benoist is joined by guest stars Tyler Hoechlin, Tom Welling, Erica Durance and Elizabeth Tulloch.
Christmas at Dollywood

Danica McKellar (“The Wonder Years”) stars as event planner Rachel Davis, who returns to her East Tennessee hometown for a major professional assignment: coordinating the 30th Smoky Mountain Christmas celebration at Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s theme park. To her dismay, the park operations director, Luke Hakman (Niall Matter), doesn’t seem to grasp that the bash has to be bigger than life, like Dollywood’s flamboyant namesake. Charmed by Rachel, it’s not long before the country superstar is doing a little matchmaking.

Lilly Wachowski (“The Matrix,” “Sense8”) co-wrote this new half-hour comedy series co-created by and starring Chicago improv comedy star Abby McEnany as Abby, a self-identified overweight lesbian currently struggling with despair and rotten luck in equal measure. Unexpectedly, those same factors lead Abby into a new relationship that could turn out to be truly transformative. Karin Anglin, Celeste Pechous and Julia Sweeney also are featured.
