Although it proved to be a box-office disappointment, writer-director Joe Cornish’s 2019 British-American fantasy earned mostly very warm reviews during its brief theatrical release. Louis Ashbourne Serkis (son of actor Andy Serkis) stars as 12-year-old Alex, who is struggling with bullies and other familiar adolescent woes when he stumbles across an old sword at a construction site. The blade turns out to be Excalibur, King Arthur’s legendary weapon, and Alex is destined to protect the world from Morgana (Rebecca Ferguson), an evil enchantress. Patrick Stewart also stars.
In the new episode “Oscar the Grouchy Frogmouth,” Terri returns to her Oregon hometown, where her love of cougars first lit her passion for wildlife conservation. During her visit, she assists with a vital health check on a cougar named Brady. Back at Australia Zoo, Robert contends with Oscar the tawny frogmouth, who’s a tiny bird with a huge attitude, while Bindi has her hands full bathing 3 Foot, a spiny anteater with skin allergies and a touchy temperament.
When she learns that her grandmother, Louise (Paula Shaw), has hurt her foot, San Francisco photographer Sophie (Merritt Patterson) flies to Seattle to help care for her. While she’s there, however, a benign case of mistaken identity leads to Sophie being hired by a corporate executive (Jon Cor) to act as a short-term nanny for his young nephew. Sophie quickly grows attached to the lad, which — this being a Christmas romance — soon leads in turn to warm feelings for her boss. Luke Roessler co-stars.
Her Philadelphia radio station is closed for repairs over the holidays, forcing DJ Kara (Keshia Knight Pulliam) to broadcast from the much smaller town of Bethlehem in this 2019 holiday dramedy. Desperate to attract an audience beyond the usual listeners at Radio Christmas, a year-round yuletide station, Kara sets out to unmask Bethlehem’s Secret Santa, an anonymous benefactor who save the community’s Christmas festivities. Michael Xavier, Tim Reid and Belinda Montgomery also star.
