Brad Peyton’s 2018 sci-fi action film, based on a popular video game series, casts Dwayne Johnson as a former U.S. Special Forces agent, now a primatologist, who teams up with a laboratory-enhanced albino gorilla named George to protect Chicago from two other similarly mutated creatures, a gray wolf and a crocodile. Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman and Jeffrey Dean Morgan — playing a government agent of dubious loyalties — also star in this movie, which did good box-office business but failed to recoup its hefty budget.
In the new(ish) episode “Take Stock: The Reload,” host Alton Brown takes another run at an illuminating show from 2003 that taught home cooks how to make their own stock, whether it be veggie-, beef- or chicken-based. That was well over a decade ago, though, and now Brown has some new thoughts on how to create a better, more flavorful, faster chicken stock and then turn that into a soup in less than two hours, start to finish.
The guest illusionists may be new, but The CW clearly doesn’t believe in tampering with success as this hit reality competition series returns for Season 7. The basic premise is the same: Rising stars in the magic world perform one of their best tricks for veteran magicians Penn Jillette and Teller, who then try to crack the secret behind the illusion after just one viewing. If a magician is able to stump the duo, that stage wizard wins an appearance with the duo in their Las Vegas show.
In the season finale “We Came, We Camped, We Coordinated,” Claire and the staff turn camp into a Halloween horror show, while Nile and Gavin clash over the fall finale football game. Elsewhere, Adam and Sophia discuss the status of their relationship, and Randall meets a “special someone” at long last.
