Jack’s Vietnam duty, Kevin’s love life fuel new stories

Season 3 begins Tuesday, Sept. 25

Want to know how Jack and Rebecca met?

If so, the new season of “This Is Us” will not disappoint. That can be said even before the start of the third round of the Emmy-winning NBC drama — which just claimed another of those awards for the work of recurring guest star Ron Cephas Jones as Randall’s (Sterling K. Brown) biological father William. Season 3 begins Tuesday, Sept. 25, and an extended trailer for the new episodes promises details on how Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore’s characters first got together.

That’s not all: The tales also will show Jack’s tour of duty during the Vietnam War, taking the series onto turf it hasn’t presented before … if you don’t count the brief glimpses of the military movie Kevin (Justin Hartley) made with Sylvester Stalione. And speaking of Kevin, he clearly won’t be on the good side of Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), who very evidently isn’t happy with the turn his love life is taking.

Here’s an advance look at Season 3 of “This Is Us”:
