Belmont Stakes has no Triple Crown contender but still a gem to watch

149th Belmont Stakes

Today, 5 p.m. ET (NBC)

Why You Should Watch: What’s another quarter of a mile? Tell that to those involved with horses over the years who have tried and failed to win horse racing’s Triple Crown, which will not happen anyway. The 149th Belmont Stakes from Belmont Park in Elmont, New York, which is the Crown’s third leg, is considered the “Test of the Champion” because of its 1.5-mile track. A Triple Crown is not an option as two different horses won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Post time is at 6:50 p.m ET.
