Oscar-winning actress plays a part in the drama series’ last season
Q: How was it for you to join “The Affair” for its final season and play the adult Joanie as she probes the circumstances of the death of her mother, Alison?
A: To have a part like this, and to work with people who are this talented, it’s just nice and fun. It’s exciting and enjoyable in all the right ways.
Q: Both you and your actor husband, Stephen Moyer, have had very active careers in recent years. How has that translated into your balance between work and parenthood when it comes to your twin children, who turn 7 years old this month?
A: It’s worked out organically so far. It’s a pretty big priority to have two full advocates for the kids, their being at the age they’re at now, so that’s a pretty big factor in our work decisions. We ask “Where?” and “When?” a lot, but it’s something we haven’t really set rules for.
Q: You recently filmed director Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Netflix project “The Irishman” with a cast that also includes Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. How was that experience?
A: It was amazing. If you’re going to be on a film set at all, that’s pretty extraordinary company to be in.
Q: Holly Hunter, your fellow Oscar winner from “The Piano,” also has been doing a good deal of television work lately. Would you be game for a reunion with her if the opportunity arose?
A: You know, I haven’t been in touch with her in a while. Our lives have not overlapped, but I’d love to work with her again in some fashion. I’m sure we will at some point. All that somebody has to do is ask.
