‘Cash Pad’ lets couple turn houses into vacation rentals on CNBC
A couple that flips houses together can stay together … even a couple formed on “The Bachelorette.”
JoJo Fletcher, who was at the center of that ABC show’s 12th season, chose former NFL quarterback Jordan Rodgers as her mate. Still engaged, they’ve been renovating homes since their time on the reality dating series — and they parlay that expertise into CNBC’s “Cash Pad,” premiering Tuesday, July 23. The couple partners with homeowners to turn the latter’s residences into ideal vacation rentals.
“I don’t think a lot of people realize I’ve been doing house renovation for the last 10 years,” the good-humored Fletcher says. “Jordan really jumped into it as soon as we got together, and I made him my free labor.”
Indeed, the friendly Rodgers confirms, “JoJo obviously was the pro at it. She had a property she purchased before (her time on) ‘The Bachelor’ and ‘The Bachelorette,’ and as soon as we got engaged and I moved from Nashville to Dallas – literally within that first week — she was like, ‘Hey! Guess what? I’m putting you to work.’ In the last year-and-a-half, we’ve transitioned our focus from long-term rentals to these short-term vacation rentals.”
Fletcher notes that “Jordan used to make furniture, so he had a little bit of the builder in him. He came in strong on demo day. He really helped me remove a lot of debris, but I’ve also noticed that he has great space awareness and he’s really good with design. He’s been kind of my bouncing board.” Adds Rodgers, “Learning three NFL playbooks in the matter of a few years (with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Miami Dolphins) prepares you for anything. I’ve always been kind of a quick learner.”
Fletcher and Rodgers agree that if anything, doing “Cash Pad” only has made their relationship stronger. “There’s no better way to test your communication and stress levels than to go into business and renovate a property in seven days,” Rodgers reasons, while Fletcher concludes, “We knew this would be a high-stress situation, but we made it out alive!”
